Western New York Impact Investment Fund Invests $500,000 in Circuit Clinical®


BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Western New York Impact Investment Fund announced today that the Fund has made an investment of $500,000 in Circuit Clinical®, an integrated health care research company based in Buffalo, N.Y. Circuit Clinical® seeks to accelerate the development of new medicines by transforming the way that patients find, choose, and participate in clinical research. The Fund’s equity investment is part of Circuit Clinical®’s recent round of financing.

Founded in 2015 by Chief Executive Officer Irfan Khan, M.D., Circuit Clinical® provides a full suite of technology and services to deliver clinical trials as a care option to doctors and patients. The company created the TrialScout platform, which helps patients find, choose and rate their experiences in clinical trials. It also assists scientists in identifying and connecting with clinical trial participants. Circuit Clinical® was a winner of the 43North business plan competition in 2019.

Circuit Clinical® continues to play a key role in important clinical research projects related to COVID-19, including assisting in the development of

the RUCDR saliva test, which received emergency use authorization from the FDA early on in the pandemic. In 2020, the company grew its footprint of the Research Network into New Jersey and New York City, with plans to expand into Long Island and across the East Coast in 2021.

The Western New York Impact Investment Fund’s investment in Circuit Clinical® marks the Fund’s tenth investment since its establishment in August of 2017. The Fund has deployed more than five million dollars to regional organizations with strong market potential and positive social impact that are uniquely positioned to build upon the economic resurgence currently taking place in Western New York.
